Ever since my daughter was born, almost exactly one year ago, I’ve been excited and sad at the same time about taking her one year photos. I knew I wanted to do a cake smash type of session because they had always looked like SO much fun and I had wished I had done one with our son when he turned one. So, I set the stage, baked a giant cupcake cake (practice run before our party on Sunday too!), and got my new studio all set up and ready to go for her.
Now, I must tell you, my little peanut…well…the girl can eat like no baby I’ve ever seen. As soon as she saw my husband bring the cake into the room, she went NUTS! We set it down, I started shooting…and…well, I’ll let these speak for themselves…

We’ve been SUPER busy at our household moving into a new house, so I apologize for the lack of blog posts lately. I’ve got a TON of fun sessions lined up for March and I can’t wait to share the images from those. I’m sure I’m not the only one that is SO sick of Winter already. It’s always this time of year that I think we all start getting spring fever! Warmer days (aka – 40 degrees!) begin to appear and the snow slowly starts to melt. It won’t be long before those little crocus flowers are peeking through the last little bit of snow.
March is already upon us and with that, our calendar has been filling up quickly with Spring sessions! So, if you are hoping to get a session scheduled in the next couple of months, you’ll want to act quickly! We only have one opening left in March and two openings left in April! We’re also taking bookings in May and June now as well.
Worried about the weather? No reason to worry now as we now have indoor, natural light studio space at my home in Rosemount. Of course, we will prefer to stay on location for most of our sessons, but it’s a nice alternative in case the weather is an issue.
Of course since no post is complete without a photo, here’s a recent one of some snowflakes that were on my car window one morning.

We’re gearing up for our appearance this weekend at the Midwest Kids Fest! I’m so excited as this is the first time we have done something like this and we can’t wait to get our name out there some more and meet some new friendly faces! Prepare yourself for the cuteness! There’s nothing I love more than a sweet little girl to get all dressed up and girly. I LOVE these kinds of sessions where we bust out fun props and backdrops. Sweet Miss A’s family contacted me to have a 9 month session for their little peanut and she was as cute as could be!
She had the most gorgeous sparkly blue eyes.
And we had SO much fun with her in the tutu!
I just couldn’t resist her adorable little toes. This is one of my favorite shots.
Is she not just the sweetest thing ever?
And I love that mom and dad wanted to do some shots in her room with her favorite book.
And we braved the outdoors in one of the snowiest winters I can remember in a LONG time and took a few outside. She had the most adorable little fur coat and matching boots!

I can’t think of a more precious gift to have right before Christmas than a new baby. The {S} family welcomed baby A into their home just over a week ago and I got to photograph him when he was just 6 wee days old. He was wonderfully adorable, with his strawberry blonde hair and his bluish eyes. He also was a fabulous little model for us and gave us some fun little poses to capture.
Mom & Dad were up for just about anything I thew there way, so we used some fun new props. We couldn’t pass up at least one Christmas photo too being he was born so close to Christmas. :-)

I try not to post too many photos of my kids on here, I leave those to our family blog. But, I just couldn’t resist sharing our Christmas card photo with you all. These two are the reason that I fell in love with photography and they are the ones that drive me to get better and better and to do what I love.

I have been counting down the days until I got to photograph this little guy. He’s the new baby of one of my bestest friends from high school and he’s about as cute as they come. Remember this beautiful mommy? Well, her wait is over and little {J} couldn’t be more perfect. He was just nine days old yesterday when we had his session and he was a rock star for us and slept right through without making a peep the entire time.
M & D, I had such a wonderful time meeting and photographing your little man. D, here’s the baseball one especially for you. Love you guys!

This little guy melted my heart from the moment I met him. He was full of smiles and laughter and was such a joy to work with and had THE most gorgeous blue eyes! Even though it was a bit chilly out, we had a great time hanging out indoors to get some fun shots of Mr. {K} and mom and dad. We did manage to get a few shots outdoors before we got too chilled though (thanks for tolerating it, guys!).
6 months is one of my favorite ages to photograph. {K} was so fully of energy and was anxious get moving and crawling and even showed me some of his Yoga poses!
